The Alton R-IV Public Schools Foundation is proud to recognize Gary Simpson (class of ’59) as the 2012 AHS Alumni of the Year. This award is presented annually by the Alton School Foundation to Alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the community and the school and continue to support our students through the Alton R-4 School Foundation.
Gary went to work in the family building supply business upon graduation, and over the years expanded the business. Following in his father’s footsteps, Gary assumed an active role in the community. he and his family have been very supportive of the school and always ready to help with both time and money for many worthwhile projects over the years. His donation to start the “Pig Project” in 2009 has positively impacted many students and has the potential to help many students in the future. His continuing hands on interest in the project, and his willingness to help individual students defines his generosity.
