Glen R. Jenkins (class of ’58) was selected the Alumni of the Year for 2013. His wife, Joyce Morris Jenkins (class of ’58) and their four sons are also Alton High School graduates.
Glen started driving a school bus for Alton Schools in 1961 and he continued driving through the 2012 school year (51 years). He has had a great influence and a willingness to help thousands of students in their daily transportation to school and on trips to many extracurricular events. His buses have traveled between 20,000 to 25,000 miles per year for a total of one million miles in the 51 years he has driven. This award is presented annually by the Alton School Foundation to Alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the community and the school and continue to support our students through the Alton R-4 School Foundation.
