2013 Trivia Night Thanks and Recap

crowd
Monday night was one of our most anticipated annual events, the 2013 Alton Trivia Night.  Overall attendance was up this year, and with help from all of those who graciously donated items, the enthusiastic bidders, and all of those who purchased raffle tickets, we were able to have one of our most successful Trivia Nights to date.

Our annual raffle saw two big winners this year, with over $1,000 being raised, which will go directly into the Alton R-IV Foundation Scholarship fund.  Robin Holman was the winner of the handmade cedar bench, which was donated by Vince and Denise Woods of “Benches and More”, while the Remington Model 770 rifle, donated by Mills Feed, was won by Michael Barton.

We gained a few more teams this year, with teams represented by local community members, Alton R-IV faculty and staff, as well as the Alton Jr. High and Alton Sr. High Quiz Bowl Teams and the Alton Sr. High FBLA.

This year’s winner was the defending champion “Redbirds”, who will take home the traveling trivia trophy for another year.  The Alton Burger Palace donated gift certificates for the team with the best decorated table, with that honor also going to the “Redbirds”.

betaLisa Shaw and the Alton High School Beta Club volunteered to serve the food for the evening.  They raised over $300 in donations, which is going to be used for future Beta Club events and projects.

The Alton R-IV Public School Foundation would like to thank those of you who donated items for the auction: Alton Florist; Benches and More; Burger Palace; Chelsea Dale’s; Clary Funeral Home; Eleven Point Canoe Rental; Hirsch’s Farm and Feed in West Plains; Mills Feed; Old Cedar Farm; Simpson Supply/Holly Johannsen; Wright’s Station; Saundra & Mark Dorris; McDonalds in Thayer; Sonic in Mammoth Spring; Dairy Queen in Thayer; Saundra Dorris, Barbara Simpson, and Berniece Ledgerwood for donating all of their home baked goods.

Thanks also go out to: Todd Hornback for donating his auction services; Wes Conrad for going above and beyond his job to set up the Multi-Purpose room; Anna Clary, Holly Reese, Pam Gilliland, Diana Clary, Saundra Dorris, Brenda Ledgerwood, and Robin Holman for organizing and/or volunteering; the dedicated teachers, staff, and foundation members, as well as those great community members who came out to offer their support, whether it be to bid, volunteer, or to play trivia!
